HET REGENT PIJPENSTELEN
GROUP 7
Can we see water as a material to experiment with?
Data flows over cables, water flows through a pipe. Both flow.
Water has a memory.
Water comes from different places and through pipes (network).
Water leak - data leak
The flow of water from rainwater to the central point to which water goes.
Puddles of water (rain water that cannot be drained): Where are they and what do they look like?
What is there to find on the rainwater route?

Can we use a sensor that produces a visual signal rather than a digital signal?
As an example:
Because of the humidity in the air, copper rusts. As a result, rust will look different in humid areas than in less humid areas.

Why are there so many references to water when we talk about data?
We use water because it is straightforward to us. When something leaks, everyone has an image, which helps us understand what is going on with a more abstract topic like data.
CAN WE USE AN
ANALOGUE SENSOR?
HOW CAN WE MEASURE RAIN?
visual effects of rain
To get data from rain, we used the sensors in a phone to capture data. By putting a phone in a plastic bag, we protect it from water damage.
The plastic bag keeps the air pressure relatively constant. The drops that fall on the bag compress the air for a brief period of time, which can be read from the data. This allows you to determine how heavy a drop is that falls on the bag and how heavy the rain is.
We used this technique to measure how heavy a rainfall is. By measuring different days and showers, different kind of data comes in.
What can we read from this data?
When is it raining cats and dogs? This is a link back to the Dutch language in which water is intertwined
